Things to do
Petaluma is located in Sonoma County, which together with neighboring Napa is one of the best destination areas in California for food & wine. In addition, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, bike rentals, kayaking, or even a day trip to the beach (but if you’re going to the beach, layers are recommended!).
If you’re looking to spend some time in the Bay Area’s urban centers, Petaluma is about an hour’s drive away from San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. Another great option is Sausalito, which is just north of the Golden Gate Bridge and features a cute downtown with cafes, restaurants, shops, bike rentals and more. Ferries into San Francisco are also available from Sausalito, for those who want to go into the city but leave their car outside of it.
